Given the potential for increased resiliency with cloud native managed data services, we see a reduced requirement for old school backups (and rarely tested restoration processes). Organizations can now, and should, design these failover aspects into systems from the outset. However, the operational complexities around the sheer increase in both volume and variation of data means people need to think more about the economic value of information when it comes to system design, and not just the capital and operational expenditures.
In this TFiR interview Neil Palmer, partner at Qarik, discusses our observations on trends in the market, how companies are evolving the way they store and consume data, and how Qarik is helping in the transition.
